Chuck Ellis'
Great Northwestern & Pacific Railway

LOCATION: Central Austin
SCALE: HO/HOn3
SIZE: Over 1900 square feet
OPERATING SESSIONS: Occasional, 6-12 operators
The GN&P is a very large - and always expanding - layout that features something for everyone. Most of the layout is HO scale but there is a fair bit of narrow-gauge HOn3 as well. The railroad features steam, first, second and third generation diesels, long trains, scratch-built timber trestles, mine buildings and stations. There is also a large yard complex.

Fully completed and highly-detailed scenery is floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall, and includes night-time lighting effects.

The railroad has been featured in Model Railroader and is the subject of a DVD. (The DVD, produced in 1994, lists the layout has being over 1500 square feet in size with a 300-foot mainline run, with over 5000 trees. And that was before the last 20 years' worth of expansion!)

The railroad is telephone-dispatched and utilizes NCE throttles.

The layout is in a basement that is accessed via stairs, and has some narrow aisles.
